Comments: How I stayed merely pudgy during my summer vacation

I hope you're shorter than me (perferably by quite a bit) or I'll get depressed about 180 pounds being a disaster.

I'm 5'10". But it's a disaster only in the sense that I haven't gained significant weight in five years, and I'm not all that muscular.

I always found it a little amusing that an almond cookie in France is called a "financier." Any idea why it's called that?

My guess about the financier is that it's usually shaped like a gold bar. I need to look into it, though, because I've wondered the same thing.

Oh How I miis european Goodies and cakes. last time I was in europe was 1988 and I have missed the baquettes, and all the really good baked goods. I tried to find em here in the US but no one I have tried comes even close. That is probrably a good thing or I would blow up to 500 lbs :-)

The thing I really envy Crescat is less the quality of the real commenters than that of the spammers.
