The Civil War Congress
I am thoroughly embarrassed that I did not know, until Friend of Crescat C.F. told me today, that David P. Currie's newest article on Congressional and Presidential Constitutional interpretation is out in the University of Chicago Law Review. All other appointed tasks are on hold for the next hour.

Kind Hearts and Roger Rabbit
While not blogging, I have watched a few movies:
Kind Hearts and Coronets: My mother and I once tried to watch Sleuth together and were basically forced to give up because the characters mumbled so fast that we were basically guessing at every plot point. Alec Guinness is not quite as bad, but my girlfriend and I did have to keep watching several exchanges over again to even guess at what was going on. Too bad not all old movies have English-language subtitltes. Anyway, this was a fun movie, if slightly too reliant on the unsubtle club of irony. Alec Guinness plays a dozen heirs who stand in the way of one sociopath and his "birthright" title of nobility, and get bumped off one by one.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?: Having exchanged a few thoughts once with Angus Dwyer about WFRR and land use policy, I thought I should finally see the movie. (See Angus, me, Angus, and me.) I have no real new thoughts about the issues in those posts except that [SPOILER ALERT] presumably the reason eminent domain is less effective as a means to erase Toontown is that 1, the scheme would probably be relatively unpopular, and 2, the villain can't use the eminent domain power without getting a quasi-democratic government on his side. Thus the need to proceed in secret behind a shell corporation and reveal the real plan only once title has transferred and it is (he thinks) too late.
