Mutter
I don't have anything to add to the wave of tributes to the great Friedman. But life continues, until we die too.
In that vein, I recommend Anne-Sophie Mutter's trilogy of Mozart sonata concerts to anyone lucky enough to live in a city she'll be visiting.
I had meant to see these concerts in Amsterdam during the summer, where she was performing at the Concertgebouw. But I missed them by a day or two. Luckily, I was able to get tickets, and a couple hours off work, on Wednesday night, to hear the first New york performance (reviewed here in the NY Times). Both Mutter and her accompanyist Lambert Orkis were wonderful, although I have to say that Carnegie Hall rewards people buying expensive tickets more than most places. For New Yorkers, she's playing again tonight and Sunday. Others should check their local listings. She, and especially Orkis, are worth your time.

Every man is mortal
There are eulogies to Milton Friedman throughout the blogosphere. Here's Steven Levitt, Tyler Cowen, Alex Tabarrok, Ilya Somin, David Bernstein, Arnold Kling and Jacob Levy.
Perhaps most importantly, here is his son, David Friedman, with a short poem.
