Happy Returns
After many hours, a cancelled flight, a charter bus, and various tribulations, I am safely ensconced in Chicago for the next quarter. I'm too tired to blog anything else until tomorrow, except to note that this whole "Crescat blogs about sex-- Glenn Reynolds links to Crescat" thing is a little unnerving, not that I'm complaining.
Incidentally, this is our 2004th entry. Neat.

All the pretty horses
More than anything else, the anti-Clintonites in the Right Wing have been successful at downplaying Bill Clinton's contribution to racehorse training.
Where will it all end, people?!

Who-hoo
I've been insta-linked! I should blog about sex more often. Or not.

You and Wittgenstein
[Yes, I know the posts of the past few weeks have been a little less coherent than before; things should return to normal once classes start.]
A Meditation on you and Wittgenstein, by Peter Meinke:
Wittgenstein never met you face to face
but fancied someone like you when he said
"the world is everything that is the case"a maxim hard to fathom. Nonetheless
its rhythms tug like Ariadne's thread:
the world is everything that is the casethe world is everything that is the case
(you, for example, sleeping on my bed)
Though Wittgenstein never met you face to facehe guessed that logic lies in rhyme's embrace
and in the same dark labyrinth has fed
the world being everything that is the case:for love, or dreams of love, curls at its base
and if you miss it, your heart's bled and dead
I wish he could have met you face to faceAn ounce of loneliness outweighs a pound of lace:
What strange equations winding through my head!
Poor Wittgenstein never met you face to face
The world is everything. That is the case.

Godot?
I check Jeremy Reff's blog, Refference, pretty much every day. This, despite the fact that he hasn't posted new content since October 20. Even more to my surprise, I'm not alone.
This is a testament to the triumph of hope over experience (how else to explain the 36 people who checked Reff's blog on December 22, 2003?), a testament to the fact that when Reff does choose to speak from on high, several of us are eager to hear him.
Nonetheless, I'm beginning to feel like Vladimir and Estragon.
