Incommunicating
Well, unlike certain other bloggers, I can't blame my lack of posts today on a lack of electricity. Today has been the final day of all of the Koch stuff, and it's really been a blast. We received awards this evening-- I was deemed "most likely to understand." (go figure). Some affairs were exposed (Veronica won "most likely to keep a secret"; Sean won "most likely to be a secret") others were ridiculed (Irina won "most likely to keep a boy toy,") and some revenges were not completed. But one gets a certain inward satisfaction upon hearing the president of the IHS confide to you that she finds a certain Koch Fellow just as annoying as you do.
A few other things-- our group won third place for our presentation on heroin. Paul Niehaus's group on sugar tariffs and Josh Barro's group on HOT lanes both deservedly beat us. And I should add one other tip for those who give presentations. Using "Impact" as a verb is a bad enough idea. Turning it into an adjective makes it worse. If I never hear the word "impactful" again, I will not miss it.
Anyway, one last thing. I'm going to be out of touch until next Wednesday or so, playing in the fine waves in northern Indiana. After that I'll be in Chicago for a while, blogging from computer clusters, and then back home sweet home. Hopefully the next installment of 20 Questions will come out this Sunday evening in my absence, and my co-bloggers may or may not entertain you while I'm gone. I feel sad to lose all of this wonderful traffic we've been getting, so please, please, please, be sure to come back and start reading the blog in the middle of next week.
